The U.N. declared July 20th as International Moon Day, but what’s the need? This presentation delves into what makes the Moon worth celebrating, from its stunning geological discoveries and up-and-coming research and why it’s worth protecting. This is our monthly meeting with a guest speaker. The public is invited to attend. After the presentation everyone is invited back to the observatory for observing (weather permitting) and refreshments.

And learn about Amateur Astronomers, Inc., the Astronomy club that makes its home at Sperry Observatory located on the campus of Union College of Union County, NJ, in Cranford, NJ and how you can join. And, weather permitting, we will do observing through or 2 large telescopes, a 24 inch reflector and a 10 inch refractor.

Amateur Astronomers, Inc. (also known as AAI) is almost 77 years young and still going strong!

Sperry Observatory is open to the public on Fridays from 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm for observing (weather permitting). A presentation is given at 8:30 pm on an astronomy related topic. Register at the entrance to the Observatory.
