Astronomy and the Environment – Ever wonder how astronomy can help with the environment? This week’s talk will cover the effects of wildfires, light pollution, industrial development, volcanic eruptions, and artificial satellites on the work of astronomers.

And join us on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20, for the annual “Four Centuries in a Weekend”. William Miller Sperry Observatory will be participating in this annual event. The doors to the Observatory will be open both days from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Come and learn about the Observatory. There will be guided tours of the building that includes the 2 large telescopes that are located in it. This is open to all ages.

And, weather permitting, we will do observing through our 2 large telescopes, a 24 inch reflector and a 10 inch refractor.
