Annular eclipse October 14th, 2023: Join AAI’s Special Solar Events!

On Saturday, October 14, 2023 there will be an annular eclipse in the United States. In New Jersey we will observe it as a partial eclipse.  AAI will be at 3 locations with solar telescopes: the Turtle Back Zoo located at 560 Northfield Ave., West Orange, at Trailside Nature & Science Center on New Providence Road, Mountainside, NJ and at Sperry Observatory. The eclipse begins at 12:08 PM and ends at 2:36 pm.  At Sperry Observatory and at Trailside we will be giving presentations about eclipse. The presentation at Sperry Observatory will begin at 11:00 AM and at Trailside at 11:30 AM. Observing will follow after the presentations. Join us at any of these locations for safe solar observing!

Sperry Observatory is open every Friday night to the public free of charge from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Observing is held throughout the evening, weather permitting. A presentation on an astronomy related topic is given at 8:30 pm. See below for information about the title of the presentation.
